THE STORY BEHIND THE KRANKENSTEIN® TRILOGY
Looking back through the many pages of the original KRANKENSTEIN® stories, synopses, scripts, set designs and character descriptions has been quite a journey. Along the way I have encountered some old friends — compelling, quirky and often downright villainous characters, together with pencil sketches, notes and scribbled ideas from the early days of writing the KRANKENSTEIN® TRILOGY.
Some of my sketches and scribbled fragments had not seen the light of day for many years. Yet, remarkably, they didn't seem to have aged at all. In fact, it was as if they'd simply been waiting in the wings.
THE KRANKENSTEIN® TRILOGY has its roots in my recollections and notebook diaries which have evolved into The Krankenstein Chronicles. They began as observations of life in general, alongside my rock 'n' roll experiences, both in recording studios and playing in bands at many iconic pubs and clubs throughout Sydney and along the east coast of Australia.
I continued to keep a record during my years living on Sunset Strip, Los Angeles in the late 1980s and early 1990s, while studying Artist Development, Creative Songwriting and Music Production — immersed in the vibrant rock 'n' roll world that surrounded me.
These experiences, observations, characters and fragments of life gradually found their way into the stories, scenes and mythology that would become KRANKENSTEIN®.
The Trilogy's original scripts, scene descriptions and early sketches are the beating heart of KRANKENSTEIN®. The three mock-up book covers, KRANKENSTEIN® theatre poster, Logo and Introduction Trilogy image presented here have been amplified from those original creative foundations, bringing some of my long-forgotten ideas to life.
And perhaps that is the most appropriate way to describe KRANKENSTEIN®…
Some things are not forgotten.
They are simply waiting to be resurrected.
FROM PAGE TO STAGE…
The KRANKENSTEIN® Trilogy inspired the writing of a full-length, two-act musical theatre script — KRANKENSTEIN® The Extreme Rock Opera! This production was rehearsed, edited and then workshopped live in London, U.K., in November 2017, culminating in three sold-out performances.
A complete soundtrack of original music, both songs and underscores has now been written exclusively for the script’s storyline and characters, expanding the world of KRANKENSTEIN® beyond the original Trilogy.
Our company, Shot Full Of Rock Ltd, is now exploring the next stage of the KRANKENSTEIN® journey, including opportunities to develop the Trilogy for publication and screenplay.
