Prologue: It is the year 2029. Plastic pop reigns supreme and unchallenged. Songs written by neo-algorithms and performed by genetically engineered pop groups dominate the world, obliterating all other forms of music. It’s as if Elvis, Led Zeppelin and AC/DC never existed.
But who cares! On the eve of their sell-out world tour, boy band ‘The Big Rock Playboys’, created and managed by the innocuously named yet villainous Derek Watson, are poised to become the most profitable act of all time! Every computer-engineered vocal harmony, every synchronised whiplash head-turn, every bio-matched merchandise pack is ready to burst into life! Everything will be perfect…
Too perfect! Deep underground in his clandestine studio laboratory, wayward genius Doctor Rockwell is the figurehead for a movement that is gaining strength.
Small pockets of activists gather around a worn cassette copy of ‘Back In Black’; a jerry-rigged acoustic guitar with some handwritten chords to ‘Smoke On The Water’; a denim jacket with the sleeves cut off.
A bad seed is taking root and nourished by these threads of classic 20th century rock ‘n’ roll, it will grow and evolve into a living, breathing creature hell-bent on claiming back all that has been lost to the plastic princes of pop…
